It seems
that it has become almost common place to give gift cards for Christmas for
those people who we think has everything or when we simply don't know what else
to give them. Face it, they are easy to purchase, easy to use, worth face value
and you can get them for virtually everything these days.
You can get
them for books, manicure, pedicure, food, department stores, grocery stores,
anything under the sun. So of course in some cases, they do make the best
gifts. They are easy to mail to our loved ones who are out of the town or even
out of the country. They can use them to shop online, offline, any place.
But in
reality, how much thought really goes into a gift card? The old saying is that
it is the thought that counts, so where is the thought when giving a gift card?
There really isn't much except should you get one for food, one for merchandise
or one for a service? That's not really a whole lot of thought going into that
particular gift.
It almost
takes the fun out of shopping and opening gifts for those you love. You put the
gift card in another card that they open, read and then stick in their wallet
or billfold. Then it's over.
