Here is a
common question, in one form or the other; "Can I trade in a Aeropostale
card at the store or at their website? - I really don't want it, and I want to
trade it in for cash"
Sorry, but
you can't do that. In fact the gift cards industry makes its profits on having
cash turned into the gift card; they will not reverse the process!
There are,
however, websites that you can sell it on for less than its face value, so you
can get cash from them. In fact I just saw cardcash.com selling Aeropostale
cards this week. Don't forget that eBay is good for this too.
Other than
that, you are stuck with it unless you have a friend that likes to shop in Aeropostale,
and you can go to the store with them, they can buy something with your card,
and give you the cash they would have spent. Sometimes you can trade with
someone else who uses that store, and they can give you a gift card of
equivalent value in exchange.
There are a
few websites that specialize in swapping, and you can trade your card with
someone else's, one that you can use. Giftcardswapping.com is one name that
comes to mind. There is a small charge for using their gift card swapping
exchange, a matchmaker's fee.
Usually the
big names in gift cards, the firms that show up on the first page of Google,
are not out to cheat. They will do all that they can to protect you and make
sure you get a square deal - the worst possible thing for them is to get
negative reviews on the web!
